Work in full partnership with the Police and with a wide range of internal and external agencies, to prevent, react to and investigate complaints of antisocial behaviour and domestic noise in accordance with relevant legislation on a variable shift pattern which will include some night shift working. You will also be involved in witnessing complaint of environmental noise out of hours.
You will be responsible for the enforcement of current relevant legislation including the Antisocial Behaviour etc. (Scotland) Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act (1990) and Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 (as amended). This may involve serving warning notices, abatement notices, fixed penalties and in some cases seizure of equipment, and where necessary entering property under warrant to carry these duties out.
You will work with local residents who may present with complex or challenging needs and engage with other service providers on a regular basis.
You will work to provide a quality frontline service which aims to create safer neighbourhoods and communities for all West Lothian residents regardless of tenure.
You will also be expected to take enforcement action against illegal encampments of gypsy travellers and to ensure that the community and local businesses are supported in this respect.
As well as dealing with private landlords who permit antisocial behaviour in their tenancies, the post-holder will be expected to assist in the identification of unregistered private landlords and illegal Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in their area and take enforcement action against such, working closely if necessary with the Council’s Environmental Health, Operational and Legal Services.
