Working as part of Renfrewshire’s Children with Disabilities Team, you will provide a direct social work service to children and young people with disabilities and their families across Renfrewshire. This will include leading assessments, review / monitoring of care packages and providing some care management and intervention services within a multi-disciplinary framework ensuring the best outcomes for children and their families.
You must have relevant experience of working with children with additional support needs. Direct experience of working with children with disabilities is desirable. Previous case management and assessment work is also desirable. However, if you don’t have this experience the ability to transfer skills and quickly learn and adapt to this type of work is essential.
You will possess sound interpersonal, time management /organisational abilities, analytical and IT skills; be an effective verbal and written communicator; be able to demonstrate that you understand the key issues surrounding disability and its impact ; have an interest and commitment to supporting children with disabilities; preferably have some knowledge of social work approaches and interventions.
You are a motivated worker who understands the strengths in team working and also enjoys working on your own initiative. You are highly organised and able to proactively prioritise your own workload, maintain good case records and work in partnership with other agencies. You are able to deliver a meaningful service through your case work and when needed support a crisis calmly. Some flexibility in unpredictable occasions is needed. You will be a resilient individual but also somebody who will enjoy the many rewards this post can bring.
Ongoing training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous improvement and providing the best service we can.
