The Housing Investment Team has responsibility for the asset management of over 12,000 Council houses. Major investment programmes have been carried out as part of our long term approach to managing our housing assets and our focus is on protecting our investment through a more proactive programmed approach to maintenance.
You will provide support to the Housing Repairs Manager on the implementation of the Council’s housing repair and maintenance strategy. You will assist in the effective delivery of the repair service to tenants and owners through various contractors, including the in house maintenance provider. The main duties of the post will include: responsibility for diagnosis of maintenance issues and instruction of repairs in line with the policy; co-ordinate, complete and return void properties within target timescales and post inspect repairs with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction. You will also contribute to both the performance monitoring and service development processes, to ensure the delivery of a high quality, customer focused repair and maintenance service.
It is essential that you have experience of working within a housing repairs and maintenance environment, delivering a responsive repairs service and dealing with the public in the field and in an interview situation. You must have an understanding of landlord repair and maintenance responsibilities and a knowledge of standards of workmanship for all trades involved in the repairs process including various Health & Safety regulations that relate to the construction industry. You must have effective IT and written and verbal communication skills; with the ability to work on your own initiative; demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm; organise your workload; work to tight deadlines while under pressure and attend meetings outwith normal office hours when required.
You will ideally be a City & Guilds time served craftsperson, or alternatively have an HNC/HND in a relevant building or construction discipline and have experience of working in a social housing environment.
A current full driving licence is desirable.
