Relief Social Care Assistant

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£12.73 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house, and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should ideally have knowledge and experience of Support Planningand Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

Experience of working in Social Care services in particular those based working in the community is essential.

You should hold an SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare or other relevant qualification(s) to enable registration with SSSC as a Support Worker in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home or achieve relevant qualification(s) within 5 years of appointment.

You are required to register with the SSSC as a Support Worker in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home within 6 months of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
