Relief Lifestyles Assistant

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£12.80 – £13.50 per hour (including distant islands allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.

The Lifestyles Service is located in Kirkwall with bases at the Pickaquoy Centre and St.Colm’s, providing person centred day services and opportunities for adults with a range of learning disabilities.

We are seeking to recruit someone who is highly motivated towards providing high quality services to adults with learning disabilities attending the Lifestyles Service.

The Lifestyles assistant will deliver a high standard of person centred, flexible and responsive support, working in partnership with the individual, promoting individuals rights.

Assisting in supporting and training with a focus on maximising individuals independence, abilities and skills in a wide range of vocational, social, leisure and community settings, both on an individual or group basis to achieve the individuals identified outcomes from support plans.

Establishing, developing and maintaining effective and professional relationships with service users, carers, staff and other service providers. Assisting with individuals personal care requirements whilst in the Lifestyles Service or community as required.

Follow support and guidance from the Lifestyles Co-Ordinators, Senior Lifestyles Co-Ordinator or Registered Manager.

Adhering to the SSSC codes of practice for Social Service Workers.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children and adults.

To be appointed at G4 you must hold a good general standard of education including numeracy and literacy and achieve a SVQ2 in Social Services and Health care within 3 years of appointment.

To be appointed at or to progress to G5 you must hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or equivalent.
