The Appropriate Adult service has been operating in Orkney on a voluntary basis, however, recently became part of statutory services provided by the local authority and a recruitment programme is currently underway. The right candidate would be a good communicator, potentially having experience of assisting vulnerable adults with communication. The hourly rate of pay is subject to enhanced payment rates for unsociable hours. Successful candidates will form part of a cadre of response as and when requested by the relevant investigation agency. Successful candidates will also be required to travel efficiently and effectively to various locations across Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the service at any time of the day or night. A full current driving licence is essential.
What we can offer:
• Full Training and Support (consistently throughout the year once established in the role too)
• Hourly Attendance Fee, including enhanced rates for unsociable hours
• Travel Expenses
• Ability to partake in national discussions/forums
• Supervision
• Mental Health Support if required. Please note: there are no guaranteed hours with this position, Appropriate Adults are used as and when required by the police or other investigative agency.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
