Required by the Communities Department’s Housing Services Team to provide cover at The Acres temporary accommodation unit in Stornoway when the permanent staff are on sick or annual leave.
Duties include: providing general advice and support to residents; preparing and cleaning rooms for allocation to new residents; monitoring general conduct of residents; monitoring entry to the building and ensuring residents and visitors are complying with house rules; undertaking regular inspections of rooms and premises and ensuring all communal areas are cleaned on a daily basis; assisting with the collection of rents and service charges; carrying out fire alarm checks.
You will have: an understanding of the needs of homeless persons and experience of working with the client group or similar; good interpersonal and customer care skills; ability to handle conflict and cope with emergencies; flexibility in terms of shift working.
Hours on an as and when required basis. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
