Job Description

12 Reablement worker are sought for 21 hours per week, early one day and late the next, 8.00am – 2.00pm and 4.00pm – 10.00pm, mainly in the following areas, but dependent upon service demands:

Barvas/Ness

Westside

North/South Lochs

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed staff to join our Short Term and Assessment Team (START) in Lewis. You will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team comprised of Reablement Workers, Care and Support Supervisors, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapy.

As a Reablement Worker you will work with people in their own home or in a homely setting to support them through a short term reablement programme. You will play a fundamental part in supporting people to regain mobility, strength and independence. The range of support tasks and activities will be undertaken as detailed in the reablement care plan and in accordance with the relevant risk assessments and management plans. The workload will be agreed by the Care and Support Supervisor.

The role will include shift patterns across 7 days, along with the provision of sleep in cover.

Requirements

You must have SVQ Level 3 in Care (or equivalent), in the absence of this you must have the ability to undertake and achieve this qualification within 36 months after registration with the SSSC. It is essential that you are registered with the SSSC within 6 months of taking up the post.  You will have knowledge of care planning, risk assessments and risk management along with knowledge of National Care Standards for Adults.  The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is essential.  A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

The wearing and use of PPE is essential in this role.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.  Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression.
