What is the role?
The wellbeing and safety of our communities in South Ayrshire is a key priority. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving practice within Social Work services. This post sits within the Chief Social Work Officer function which leads on the development and maintenance of professional Social Work standards in South Ayrshire. This is a professionally rewarding opportunity for those interested in making a real difference to the Social Work profession.
This position will support the development and implementation of the new National Child Protection Guidance within South Ayrshire. The position will also support the implementation of recommendations resulting from three significant learning reviews currently under way: Adult Social Work; Alcohol and Drugs Partnership and Public Protection.
The successful candidate will report to the Lead Officer (Child Protection) and work closely with others in the CSWO function including the Lead Officers (Adult Protection & ADP) and the Practice Development Officer (Public Protection) to develop policy, practice guidance and training programmes to support activity in relation to the workstreams described above.

The Grade of this post is Grade 3 / Level 10, the hourly rate is from £20.30 to £21.57 and the annual salary is from £37,047 to £39,365. This post is temporary for 23 months.

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
