Based in Children’s Services, Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving care experiences for children and young people who can help us to #KeepThePromise.
We want to recruit a ‘Promise Ambassador’ to help Renfrewshire and its planning partners to make changes which reflect what is important to local care experienced children, young people and families.
As a person who has experienced care, or who has other significant experience of the care system, you will play a key role in consulting with local care experienced children and young people to inform policy and practice changes within services delivered by the Council and its planning partners. We are serious about improving care experiences and about delivering services which better reflect the needs and aspirations of those with care experience. As an ambassador for these children and young people and their families, you will be supported and encouraged to provide challenge to current ways of doing things and to speak truth to system leaders.
You will be involved in a number of exciting new workstreams related to The Promise including the development of ‘scaffolding’ supports for families, implementation of policy and practice changes to keep brothers and sisters together, and testing of innovative tools to better capture the voices of children and young people. You will also support the continued development of our Champions’ Board including facilitating meetings and driving up recruitment.
It is essential that you have an HND or equivalent in social care or a related field as well as experience of working with children and young people in a relevant context. You will have experience of partnership working and experience of facilitating consultation exercises with a range of groups.
It is desirable that you a degree or professional qualification in social sciences, education, health or a related subject.
The Promise Ambassador is funded by the Scottish Government’s ‘Promise Partnership’ and is temporary for one year.
