Fife Health & Social Care Partnership (H&SCP) and our partners are committed to providing Person Centred health and social care services in local communities. To achieve this, we need to find out what people think and to learn from their experiences so that the views of service users, their carers and communities are considered in the continuous process of planning and decision making.
The Project Officer for public engagement role Is primarily to engage with and support public members particularly those who use H&SCP services (such as carers) so that they can effectively influence change. This will involve working as part of a small team of public engagement officers and other key stakeholders to develop effective processes and mechanisms to hear from people who use services what their experience has been like and what they would like to see in their community and to help them to identify and act on community needs and ambitions from the aspect of Health & Social Care Services.
This will include to further develop the H&SCP public engagement processes and structures linked to and developed with the unique requirements of the seven health and social care locality profiles.
The role will also involve close partnership working to build relationships and trust between members of the public, local user group engagement forums and wider NHS, Third Sector & Fife Council public engagement processes to ensure public engagement networks are joined up with and for the people of Fife.
The public engagement officers will be responsible for the success of the communications channels and points of contact between H&SC, partner organisations and the people who use H&SC services in their communities.
The role also involves:
Developing strong collaborative relationships between individuals, local public engagement forums and wider NHS, Third Sector & Fife Council public participation and engagement processes.
To provide advice and support to members of partner organisations staff and other public representatives, in planning, devising and delivering local engagement activities.
To plan, conduct, analyse and report the findings from evaluation of engagement activities.
Undertake ongoing engagement and feedback with the local community and public representatives, so that the views of service users, their carers are considered in the continuous process of decision making
Planning, implementing a range of methods to engage with the public including Preparing and utilising online and social media to gather public views / surveys, etc
Finding creative solutions to complex problems and communicating these effectively using written, verbal and presentational skills.
Negotiating with and influencing public members, professional advisors, representatives of statutory bodies and others and where necessary, challenge assumptions and “norms” to ensure that the public voice is heard in the continuous process of planning and decision making.
