These are exciting opportunities offering the successful candidates the opportunity to work in a sector leading area of the housing service delivering a range of private sector housing initiatives.
Post 1 involves maximising the availability of good quality, affordable accommodation in the private rented sector through the operation of initiatives including the Rent Bond Guarantee Scheme, PKC Lets and the Empty Homes Initiative. The role involves working with landlords, tenants and applicants and giving advice about all aspects of private rented housing. The successful applicant will work within the Private Sector Team to provide an expert and comprehensive advice service to private landlords and tenants regarding general housing issues, and give advice specifically related to private sector housing and associated legislation. The successful applicant will need to communicate effectively with tenants and landlords, have excellent organisational skills to manage a varied and demanding workload with the ability to prioritise tasks and coordinate appointments. You should have experience of working in a housing role either in private sector or social housing. The post will involve meeting landlords and tenants in the office and also travelling to meetings in properties. As such a driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. The successful candidate should be confident to work on their own and to discuss housing related issues with landlords and tenants. An understanding of the Letting Agent Code of Practise, welfare benefits and a relevant housing qualification would be advantageous.
Post 2 involves engaging with private landlords and letting agents to promote good property and management standards, offering support to landlords to achieve the required letting standard and working with colleagues in Landlord registration as appropriate, as well as organising Landlord forums, and other training events. The successful applicant will provide an expert and comprehensive advice service to private landlords and tenants regarding general housing issues, and give advice specifically related to private sector housing and associated legislation. An understanding of private sector housing legislation along with the ability to problem solve will be required. You can expect to work with tenants and landlords where tenancies may be at risk to try to find appropriate housing solutions. Experience of providing housing support and an understanding of benefits will be advantageous. We would also be interested to hear from candidates with experience of developing new initiatives and services. Enthusiasm to create new opportunities to engage with landlords would be desirable. The post will involve meeting landlords and tenants and travelling to meetings in properties. As such a driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. The successful candidate should be confident to work on their own and to discuss housing related issues with landlords and tenants.
