Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £47,847 – £52,325 p.a.

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: 

• The Practice Lead for Learning and Development will lead the recruitment and retention of staff to support Family Team delivery of universal and additional health, social care and child protection services for children in the context of the Highland Practice Model.
• Teams are multi-disciplinary with an ethos of collaborative practice – within the team and with children, young people, parents and carers. The teams work in communities with partner services within associated school groups and across the Highland area. The Practice Lead for Learning and Development will undertake their duties in this context developing a workforce that is confident and competent workforce into the future.
• The Practice Leads will work together within the service, partner agencies and stakeholders to provide an integrated and robust professional workforce for children & families. Practice Leads collaborate to manage the workflow of the team, providing leadership and supervision to distinct but complementary areas of professional activity.
• On behalf of the team and the wider service, the Practice Lead as a qualified and appropriately registered Social Worker, ensures the provision and coordination of the workforce to deliver the services to children and young people at risk of significant harm, who may be in need of compulsory measures, who are looked after, or who have other complex care needs.

Requirements

• Honours Degree or equivalent in Social Work and registration with SSSC
• Post Qualifying certificate in Child Welfare & Protection or equivalent
• At least 5+ years’ experience as a Social Worker
• Practice Teaching Award/ Practice Learning Qualification or equivalent, plus 3 years’ experience of providing Practice Teaching across the service.
