Working as part of a team supporting all three local authority care homes for older people, you will be responsible for the delivery of care to older adults, consistent with Social Work policies and procedures. This will involve supporting staff in assisting residents in all aspects of personal and social care in a way which respects their dignity as individuals and promotes their maximum independence.
You must enjoy working with older people and understand their needs; be an effective communicator, showing a professional and courteous manner to residents, relatives, carers, health professionals and other agencies; be able to work on your own initiative and be flexible and adaptable with the capacity to learn and apply new skills.
SVQ Level 3 in Social Care, or equivalent, is essential as well as the potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 (2 units) in order to meet SSSC registration requirement. Previous experience of working with older adults is also essential.
You will be fully supported by senior staff in achieving a high standard of work and given the opportunity to attend relevant training courses to develop your knowledge and skills.
You must be able to work shifts, including weekends, on a rota basis. You are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.
This position is covered by The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (the PVG Act) and has been designated as carrying out regulated work with a child or protected adult under the terms of the Act. Consequently individuals who are named on the Disqualified from Working with Children/Adults Lists will commit an offence if they apply for this post and may face prosecution.
