Occupational Therapist – Temporary Full Time

Southend City Council are looking to recruit an agency full time Occupational Therapist to support the Community Strengths team.
This team is responsible for assessment of anyone over 18 years in the community or interim placements, with long term and complex neurological and deteriorative conditions such as MS, cerebral palsy, mental health, chronic fatigue, and learning difficulties.
They hold a quarterly Transition meeting for children reaching 18 years, with EPUT LD OTs attending, to provide a more seamless service for children transitioning to adulthood. They work in a strengths-based preventative way, and refer to other agencies such as Everyone Health and chronic fatigue service, to look at other strategies such as weight loss, management of fatigue, support for those with hoarding issues, and consider alternative support networks to improve mental health. The aim is to support people to safely manage their long-term conditions and reduce and delay the need for greater dependence on traditional care services.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and to travel around the borough.

What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you must be 2 years post qualified as an Occupational Therapist that is registered with the HCPC. Previous experience with Children Services is essential.
