We are looking for registered Occupational Therapists to ideally join us for 1 year, providing full time and part time maternity cover starting end of February 2023 and end of April 2023. If you are only interested in applying for part time hours, then this would also be considered. Please also note that there may be scope for permanent part time hours at the end of the maternity cover period.
We have two posts to cover:
Both roles are in the Housing Service and are part of a team of 5 Occupational Therapists: 1 Peripatetic OT and 4 OTs covering set geographical areas.
All our Housing Occupational Therapists are currently working from home as their base as well as undertaking face-to-face client contact. We meet and communicate regularly using MS Teams. The council is reviewing how staff will work in the future and is adopting a ‘hybrid’ approach. It is unlikely that you will be required to work from an office location but may attend some face-to-face meetings/training in offices as they start to reopen.
We are a small, experienced team of professionals who will take great care in integrating a new member into our numbers. We know that you may be wanting to move into the exciting role of ‘Housing OT’ for the first time. You will find the team to be friendly and approachable and dedicated to making sure you have all the support you need to thrive in your new job. We have a full induction package to help you settle in and our processes are all well documented and structured. We try to make the ‘deep end’ as shallow as possible!
You will assess, advise, and provide a range of OT services aimed at maximising opportunities for personal independence within council housing and the wider community. You will undertake:
The Housing OTs ensure that the particular needs of council tenants are fully considered when housing is allocated and upgraded. An awareness of building design and structure with the ability to read architectural plans/drawings would be advantageous.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
A full current Driving Licence is required.
This post has a minimum requirement of one reference which must be your current or most recent employer.
These posts are fixed term until end of February & April 2024 to cover Maternity leave
