We are looking for a registered Occupational Therapist to join us on a permanent part time contract, 18.12 hours per week. These hours can be worked either as 2.5 days per week or 2 days one week and 3 the next.
Initially, there may also be further hours available for the next 12 months, providing maternity cover, should this be of interest to you.
The busy Peripatetic Housing Occupational Therapist role is part of a team of six part time Occupational Therapists: four covering set geographical areas and two Peripatetic OTs, undertaking a reactive role covering the whole of Aberdeenshire dependant on the demands of the case load.
All our Housing Occupational Therapists are currently working from home as their base as well as undertaking face-to-face client contact. We meet and communicate regularly using MS Teams. The council has a ‘hybrid’ approach to working that favours home working over working from an office location, but you may attend some face-to-face meetings/training in offices and ‘hot desks’ can also be booked at various Aberdeenshire Council office locations.
We are a small, experienced team of professionals who will take great care in integrating a new member into our numbers. We know that you may be wanting to move into the exciting role of ‘Housing OT’ for the first time or are even considering returning to practice. You will find the team to be friendly and approachable and dedicated to making sure you have all the support you need to thrive in your new job. We have a full induction package to help you settle in and our processes are all well documented and structured.
You will assess, advise, and provide a range of OT services designed to optimise occupational performance within Council housing and the wider community. You will undertake Housing Needs Assessments, Pre-Allocation Assessments, advise on new build projects and undertake Assessments for potential adaptations to ensure that the particular needs of council tenants are fully considered when housing is allocated and upgraded. An awareness of building design and structure with the ability to understand building layout design drawings would be advantageous.
