An exciting new vacancy has arisen within Perth and Kinross Housing & Environment Service for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who has relevant experience of working with vulnerable people in the community. You will work as part of a team and on your own initiative within the Housing Service. Your role will include ensuring that available adapted properties are allocated effectively to people with disabilities. You will make links and work in partnership with your housing colleagues and outside agencies, to offer housing solutions for individual applicants. The successful candidate will respond to requests for an Occupational Therapist assessment for applicants with disabilities in need of suitable housing and will explore and advise on housing options for people with a physical disability to achieve independent living. You will be based within Pullar House in Perth but be expected to travel throughout Perth and Kinross.
You will work with people of all ages who require specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention. There is a key focus on early intervention, prevention and a reablement approach across all services. You will undertake comprehensive assessments and have proven skills and experience in arranging the provision of equipment, and adaptations to assist individuals to achieve their optimum level of independence in the community. You will be able to recommend property types suitable for adaptations and ensure that available adapted properties are allocated in accordance with an individual’s long term housing requirements. You will have strong assessment skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with client’s and carers. You will be able to demonstrate experience of multi-disciplinary working and be committed to working closely with colleagues from other disciplines. You must be able to work effectively on your own and also within a team and demonstrate a commitment to improving service provision. You will have good organisational skills and be able to manage a busy caseload. Excellent verbal and written skills are essential. You must have Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC. A full Driving Licence is essential.
