We are looking for a registered Occupational Therapist to join us on a temporary contract until the end of March 2024. This vacancy is for maternity leave cover, working in our East Area – Peterhead and surrounding areas.
There are also permanent hours available of 18.12 these hours which can be structured as 2.5 days per week or 2 days one week and 3 the next, should this be of interest to you. These hours are being advertised separately on MyJobScotland ABS38935 should you also wish to apply.
This role is in the Stock Improvement section of the Housing Service, and you will be part of a team of six part time Occupational Therapists: four covering set geographical areas two Peripatetic OTs, undertaking a reactive role covering the whole of Aberdeenshire.
Please note that all our Housing Occupational Therapists are currently working from home as their base, as well as undertaking face-to-face client contact.
We meet and communicate frequently using MS Teams. The council is reviewing how staff will work in the future and is adopting a ‘hybrid’ approach. It is unlikely that you will be required to work from an office location but may attend some face-to-face meetings/training in offices that have reopened.
We are a small, experienced team of professionals who will take great care in integrating a new member into our numbers. We know that you may be wanting to move into the exciting role of ‘Housing OT’ for the first time. You will find the team to be friendly and approachable and dedicated to making sure you have all the initial shadowing and ongoing support needed to thrive in your new job. We have a full induction package to help you settle in and our processes are all well documented and structured.
You will assess, advise, and provide a range of Occupation Therapist services aimed at maximising opportunities for personal independence within council housing and the wider community. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service, tenants, and the organisation.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
A full current Driving Licence is required.
