Children’s Support Worker – Full Time Nights – Pontypool

Based in Pontypool, my client is a residential children’s service recruiting for full time night shift support workers. They support and nurture children and young people with emotional behaviour disorder; and help navigate through day-to-day life using the therapeutic approach. Your role will see you as a role model to the residents, aiding in improving their mindset and wellbeing. They have a firm belief in looking after their staff and have a strong vision of where they want to see their services in future, and consistently reviewing how best to care for their children and young people.

Your new role
To provide outstanding care to children while applying their individual care plans
Engage in fulfilling activities
Liaising with families and support workers to ensure the best possible independent care plans are provided and carried out
Proactive approach to education and activity to improve key skills and self confidence.
Ensure clear communication with individuals via a range of methods and inspire them to carry out any tasks.
Engage in individual’s transitioning periods by nurturing them to become a functioning member of wider society
To make and maintain accurate records of activities and tasks carried out, including any incidents that may occur
Carry out general housekeeping duties, which includes elements of personal care
Apply safeguarding and protection to vulnerable individuals and ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone you support
Comply with GDPR and Health and Safety regulations
Shifts are waking nights and 12 hours, based on a rota so you must be flexible across all days of the week
What you’ll need to succeed
Driving Licence – essential
Experience within the care sector is desirable but not essential
QCF/ NVQ L2 or L3 in Health & Social Care Children and Young People is desirable
An understanding of ACES and County Lines
Understanding of Children’s Safeguarding legislation and human rights
Creativity and willingness to think of new and engaging ideas
Resilience, self-motivation and the enthusiasm to engage with active young people
Excellent communication skills
Ability to navigate a challenging situation
DBS on the Update service is a bonus for swifter onboarding
