Night Social Care Assistant

18.5 hours per week, Shift working over seven days
Temporary up to 31 March 2025
£33,612 – £34,407 pro rata / £17.43 – £17.84 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks services and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. This post will be allocated to working in the Supported Accommodation and Short Breaks part of the service on a night shift rota basis.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within Supported Accommodation and Short Breaks. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach, which includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have experience of working with people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

Applicants should hold an SVQ 2 in Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC or, where the essential qualification is not held, be able to achieve this within 5 years of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
