Under the direction of the Lead Officer ASP & MH, Western Isles, you will undertake Mental Health Officer and Assessment and Care Management duties along with other Social Work/Mental Health Officer responsibilities including liaison with health, private and voluntary agencies.
The Mental Health Officer (MHO) duties required relate to all statutory functions required of MHO’s and work within the relevant legislation. Within care management arrangements, you will make assessments and negotiate packages of care in consultation with service users and carers to meet identified needs within defined budgetary limits. You will also monitor, review and assess individual care plans and respond to changing needs.
You will hold a Diploma in Social Work or equivalent and have a Mental Health Officer Award. You should also have an up to date knowledge of Community Care legislation and also knowledge of the legislation relating to MHO practice. It is essential that you are able to communicate clearly, have good interpersonal skills and hold a driving licence.
Appointment to the post is fixed term for two years.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
