Male Support Worker – Swansea – Support Worker
Your new company
My Client is a large not for profit organisation that supports and cares for individuals with Learning Disabilities and complex health needs. They are looking for a male support worker to join their team on an assignment lasting 4-8 weeks. The home is a supported living resident that is home to service users with complex health needs who require care and support around the clock.
Your new role
In this role you will be supporting individuals across two locations on the same road in all aspects of daily life from cooking and cleaning to personal care, as well as helping them maintain their tenancy and actively supporting them with their hobbies and to learn and develop new skills.
At one of the service, we currently support 2 females in their twenties, both ladies are very independent and communicate freely. They enjoy days out, trips to the cinema/theatre, bowling, meals out, attending their day centres, karaoke, music, shopping and holidays. They both have regular contact with their families.
Our other house supports four individuals; two gentlemen and two ladies. One gentleman enjoys attending his day centre, days out, going for a drive, listening to music, and watching old movies. The other gentleman enjoys bowling, music, trampolining, swimming, and days out. Both gentleman face challenges with their communication and require support to ensure their choices and decisions in all aspects of their life are heard. Both have epilepsy and need full support with personal care and their daily routines.
The two females we support both enjoy cooking, cinema/theatre, music, arts and crafts, TV soaps, bowling, swimming, shopping, meals out, attending the day centre and meeting friends. They have regular family contact. One lady requires support with her mobility and uses a wheelchair when going out, both ladies are in their mid-sixties and have diabetes. Both ladies communicate well and are able to express their choices and make their own decisions. Both need support with personal care and their daily activities
All the individuals require support with their personal care, ranging from verbal prompts to full support.
