Lifestyles Assistant (2 Posts)

£21,266 – £22,343 / £22,617 – £24,405 (including Distant Islands Allowance)
The Lifestyles Service is located in Kirkwall with bases at the Pickaquoy Centre and St Colm’s, providing person centred day services and opportunities for adults with a range of learning disabilities.
We are seeking to recruit people who are highly motivated towards providing high quality services to adults with learning disabilities attending the Lifestyles Service.
The Lifestyles Assistants will deliver a high standard of person centred, flexible and responsive support, working in partnership with the individual, promoting individuals’ rights.
You will assist in supporting, training and a re-ablement approach, with a focus on maximising individuals’ independence, abilities and skills in a wide range of vocational, social, leisure and community settings, both on an individual or group basis, to achieve the individuals’ identified outcomes from their support plan.
You will establish, develop and maintain effective and professional relationships with service users, carers, staff, relevant professionals and other service providers. You will also assist with individuals’ personal care requirements whilst in the Lifestyles Services or community as required. Adherence to the SSSC Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers and Health and Social Care Standards is required at all times.
Skills or interests in employment support, hospitality, woodwork, horticulture or marketing would be beneficial though not an essential criteria.
To be appointed at G4:
You should have a good general standard of education, including literacy and numeracy, with the requirement to achieve an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care within 5 years of appointment.
To be appointed at G5:
You should hold an SVQ 2 in Social Services and Health Care, or equivalent, in accordance with the SSSC qualification requirements for registration.
These posts is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
