Vacancies have arisen within the Housing Need Service to provide Housing Options for Homeless persons within West Lothian as part of our Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan

You will work as Housing Options Team Leader to the Housing Options Team ensuring that services delivered by the team are carried out in a flexible, innovative and responsible manner. 

The primary focus of this post is to ensure the Housing Options Team manages homeless presentations, prevention and housing options in accordance with agreed procedure.  Ensuring that applicants in housing need are identified, their needs are assessed and met and that all necessary prevention work is undertaken.

The skills and experience you must have:

• Be qualified to SVQ/HNC level 3 in housing or equivalent i.e. Social Work, Community Education, Social Care or be willing to work towards, or recent experience of working in homelessness/housing or related services
• To maintain a working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, Homelessness Bill, Children’s (Scotland) Act 1995, Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 , Care Commission Housing Support registration requirements
• Significant experience of working in a Housing/Homelessness & Support environment assessing need.
• IT literate – an ability to use software applications E-Mail, Excel, Data Entry, Word, PowerPoint etc  

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
