East Renfrewshire Council has committed to accommodating a number of families from abroad seeking refuge in the UK and the Housing Service wishes to appoint an officer to assist with this programme. We are looking for someone to plan and prepare to meet the housing needs of the families on arrival in Scotland and to provide them with practical assistance and housing support to assist them going forward.

Previous experience of working directly with refugees, asylum seekers or other vulnerable client groups in a housing context is required as well as of working in a multiagency environment. You must also have the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with people at all levels and have excellent communication skills. An ability to speak and write in Arabic would be an advantage.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
