An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated professional to join the care team at Papdale Halls of Residence.
Papdale Halls of Residence provides accommodation for secondary school pupils from both the North and South Isles to enable them to complete their education at Kirkwall Grammar School. Our staff team of dedicated professionals support the health, safety and wellbeing of up to seventy students.
Residents at Papdale Halls are encouraged to express themselves as individuals while developing social skills and emotional maturity. They are supported to reach their full academic, social and emotional potential.
Papdale Halls of Residence is a registered service, regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate. Our aim is to provide high quality, person centred support which responds to individual needs of young people.
For appointment at Grade E
You should have a good general standard of education and there is a requirement to achieve relevant qualifications to meet the registration requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council as a Worker in School Care Accommodation, e.g., SVQ3 Health and Social Care and HNC in Social Care, within 3 years of appointment
For appointment at/progression to Grade F
You should hold relevant qualifications to meet the registration requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council as a Worker in School Care Accommodation, e.g., SVQ3 Health and Social Care and HNC Social Care
You will have recent experience of working with children and families/carers and / or working in a relevant position with vulnerable service users. You will require excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to young people. The post requires a flexible attitude and the ability to work in a team situation is essential.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
The post involves working unsocial hours as part of a rota.
