Forensic Senior Practitioner
Orchard Clinic Medium Secure Unit, Royal Edinburgh Hospital
Salary: £40,275 – £47,654
Hours: 36 per week
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Officer to join the social work team at the Orchard Clinic.
Based within The Orchard Medium Secure Unit of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and managed within the South West Locality of EHSCP, this post presents an exciting opportunity for an MHO accredited social worker.
You must both be a social worker registered with the SSSC and an accredited Mental Health Officer following the successful completion of a SSSC accredited post qualifying Mental Health Award programme or accredited for an equivalent role in another UK jurisdiction, ideally with 2 years post qualifying practice in this role.
You should have considerable experience of assessment and care management in mental health social work and a commitment to multi-disciplinary working.
You should have a sound understanding of the principles and practice of risk assessment and the ability to promote individual autonomy within an appropriate framework of individual and public protection.
You should demonstrate a strong commitment to person centred, recovery focused interventions, promoting and upholding the rights of individuals subject to compulsory measures of care and treatment.
An understanding of the interface between the criminal justice, health, and social care systems is desirable.
Experience of working within criminal justice and/or forensic services for mentally disordered offenders is desirable.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
