Family support workers required for a position based in Birmingham.
Your new company
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service or SENDIASS provides free impartial, confidential and accurate information, advice and support about education, health and social care for children, young people and their parents on matters relating to special educational needs and disability. Due to an increase in cases, they are looking for part-time temporary contract cover for the next couple of months in the first instance.
Your new role
As a Family Support Worker, Social Work Student or Newly Qualified Social Worker, your role will be to assist in delivering an effective service to meet the SEN needs of children and young people in the City. Offer advice, guidance, and support around strategies to resolve issues/concerns that are raised by parents & carers and children & young people, through working on a casework basis and undertaking home visits and school meetings. Be familiar with and to adhere to the policies and procedures in respect of Special Educational Needs and the relevant Education Acts and Children Acts. You will also need to be responsible for operating the Duty Service telephone help line and responding effectively to all incoming calls. Working for SENDIASS, you will need to be able to work in a fast paced environment and have recently had placement experience in front line social work. You will need to be able to work remotely, have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable to pick up new and existing cases.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful you will either hold or be working towards a Social Work qualification (BA Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CSS or CCETSW approved equivalent), hold a qualification in Family Support (Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce) and have had your last placement within a children’s social work setting.
