Perth and Kinross have established an innovative and exciting model of working to provide services for young people who are Looked After or at risk of becoming Looked After and therefore “on the edge of care”. REACH promotes a multi-disciplinary approach to providing community based support to young people and to their families and which reduces reliance on traditional residential care options for vulnerable young people.
A vacancy has arisen for a Family Group Decision Making / Lifelong Links Coordinator (FGDM/LLC) to join our well established (FGDM/LLC) provision based within our REACH Team.
The successful candidate will help shape the service and be responsible for the delivery of family- focused interventions to help children and young people re-build and maintain positive relationships with their families. This will include Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) and Lifelong Links to assist families to devise their own solutions using resources within the extended family thus keeping children and young people connected to people who are important to them.
This person will also help shape, develop and deliver this model of working to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).
In addition to working directly with children and families, the post holder will be expected to work closely with other professionals and staff within the multi-disciplinary team and service wide. The post holder will also provide consultancy and training to other professionals within the team and across wider services where appropriate.
Working flexible hours and based within REACH or at home you will be part of a multi-agency team delivering a frontline services to some of the most vulnerable children and young people across Perth and Kinross. These children and young people may be subject of compulsory measures of care through the Children’s Hearing, either living at home, Looked After away from home or are on the Child Protection Register.
You will have a degree in Social Work or equivalent as recognised by the Scottish Social Service Council.
Ideally, but not essential, the successful candidate will have post qualifying experience working within a child care setting and will have practice experience of FGDM ; family – focussed interventions and Lifelong Links. Experience of working with UASC is also be desirable.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who demonstrates ability to engage with challenging young people and their families; contribute to REACH’s positive team ethos and work confidently in partnership to achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Perth and Kinross Council.
