As Birmingham City Council’s recruitment partner, I am looking for 5 x Elective Home Education Officers + 1 x Coordinator to manage this team of 5 officers

Your new role

The purpose of the roles are to tackle and review the high volumes of cases where children have elected to be educated from home during the pandemic but not then returned to a school setting. We need to ensure those children are safe, thriving and receiving a suitable education.

Office location: Woodcock Street (Birmingham).

What you’ll need to succeed

In order to be a successful candidate, you will need to have experience as an Education Welfare Officer and a strong safeguarding background. They would also consider people with a family support background in either a statutory, community and/or voluntary sector.

If you are interested in the coordinator position, you will need to have some line management experience to be able to oversee your new team.

Additionally, you will need:

• Ability to build rapport and work with families independently.
• Knowledge and skills in casework and community-based interventions.
• ICT literate and able to maintain clear and concise case records.
• Able to travel across the city to carry out the duties of the post – driver with access to own car

What you’ll get in return

This is a temporary ongoing contract. Your working hours will be 36.5 per week – the nature of the role may require flexing around normal operating hours which are 08.45-17.15h.

Pay for the Elective Home Education Officers is £11.09ph – for the coordinator position is £16.62ph.
