Early Help Support Practitioner, Youth, Teens, Permanent
Southend Council are looking to appoint a permanent full time Early Help Family Support Practitioner, who has previous experience of working with teenagers.
Within this position you will be required to hold a caseload of families whose identified needs require support and intervention will prevent escalation of need, these caseloads can also include families that have de-escalated from Social care or are in the Troubled Families programme for a period of maintenance to ensure sustainability.
You will provide full and thorough support of families and children in order for them to meet their support plan targets. Help to build and maintain positive relationships with schools, stakeholders and communities and gain commitment to the families action plan. Working extensively with families you will support education to improve attendance, improve engagement and reduce exclusions in school, assist families and schools to identify correct provision and support required for child to remain in school and achieve their potential.

What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you must have experience of working with teenagers, have an understanding of exploitation and have completed assessments.
You will also have previous experience of working within the Children’s social care sector, with current knowledge of legislation and local policies as well as the Children’s Act and the DCLG Troubled Families Programme.
You must have an excellent record of working with vulnerable families and have experience of working with muli-disciplinary teams, with knowledge of working in a statutory setting with children who are on a Child Protection Plan or Children in Need.
