Based at Anchor Centre, 51 Stock Street, Paisley.
You will work as part of the staff team responsible for providing social and leisure supports to children and adults with learning disabilities or autism. As part of the team you will be responsible for the recruitment, training and ongoing support of volunteers, assisting them to provide a range of social activities within the community in accordance with the practice and procedures of the local authority.
The main duties of the post will include: coordinating and providing support to service users to increase their social and leisure opportunities; the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of service requests; to undertake volunteer recruitment, training and supervision; link worker responsibility; providing the required support to service users to enable them to achieve aspects of their care plans, this may include duties relating to: personal care, health needs, challenging behaviour, etc.; supporting D.S.A’s, sessional workers and volunteers to fulfil their role; facilitating the participation of service users into the community & in doing so facilitate positive relationships with the wider community; ensuring that healthy & stimulating environments are maintained for service users & that all of these processes encompasses the ethos of the service.
You should have a good understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism and the ability to: complete care plans; undertake risk assessments; record daily care notes; etc. You must have a person centred approach and be enthusiastic, motivated, courteous and respectful in all your interactions with service users, carers, staff, etc. You must also have a knowledge of computer IT packages.
It is essential that you are willing to work towards obtaining SVQ level 3 in Social Care. Possession of this qualification would be an advantage.
You must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
A driving licence and experience of group work are desirable.
Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous improvement.
