Working as part of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for the delivery of day care to adults who have PMLD and Autism, consistent with Social Work policies and procedures including assisting service users to meet their needs as detailed in their care plans in a way which respects their dignity as individuals, maximising their levels of independence and promoting their inclusion within the wider community.
You must enjoy working with people who have PMLD and Autism and have an understanding of all aspects of their needs; be an effective communicator, showing a courteous manner to service users, carers, other professionals and agencies; be able to work on your own initiative, be honest and enthusiastic with the capacity to learn and apply new skills and flexibility within the post.
You should have a good understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism and the ability to: complete care plans; undertake risk assessments; record daily support notes; etc. You must have a person centred approach and be enthusiastic, motivated, courteous and respectful in all your interactions with service users, carers, staff, etc. You must also have a knowledge of computer IT packages.
It is essential that you are willing to work towards obtaining SVQ level 3 in Social Care. Possession of this qualification would be an advantage.
You must be able to work flexible hours.
A driving licence and experience of group work are desirable.
Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous professional development and improvement.
