THIS POST IS A RE-ADVERTISEMENT.
This post is fixed term until October 2022,
We have an exciting opportunity within our well established CARA (Challenging and Responding to Abuse) service for an additional temporary counsellor. This will be for a period of 14 months. The successful candidate will make up a team of three counsellors and will work within the Children and Families team as part of West Dunbartonshire’s HSCP. Although the balance of work will be directly with women, applicants must have equal experience of working with vulnerable women, children and young people.
Applicants should be experienced and have knowledge of thresholds for child and adult protection, and be experienced in the provision of therapeutic support for women, children and young people who have experienced gender based violence.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their capacity to both work as part of a team and prioritise their workload within a context of high demand.
Please note that there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be female due to the nature of the role supporting all female service users with domestic abuse & sexual violence. Due to the specific requirements of this role, this post is exempt under the Equality Act (2010), Part 1, Schedule 9 (Genuine Occupational Requirement.)
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are “spent” under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
