To plan, support and co-ordinate social work practice relating to complex needs for children and families within Moray in line with local and national policy and legislation and to take responsibility for managing complex situations.
To provide support and advice to managers and staff on the conduct of implementation of, and development of risk management in Moray, and to provide professional advice on other social work professional matters as required.
To support managers with the implementation of complex needs care planning in Moray and to be responsible for the audit of and quality assurance of complex needs in Moray to reflect social work practice.
To be responsible for advice, guidance and delegated functions in relation to social work development on behalf of the Children & Families and Justice Services Social Work management team.
Consistently demonstrate a high level of competence and confidence in the full range of social work professional practice with children and families and justice services, particularly in relation to complex needs.
Provide mentoring and coaching to social work staff and demonstrate best practice in social work and promote a learning culture, particularly in relation to risk assessment & management and understanding complex needs.
Model social work values, best practice and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. To be a role model and working alongside social workers when working with complex families, while demonstrating good practice.
Where necessary, bring together and co-ordinate a team around a family to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to protection, support, or care, when the family is presenting with complex needs.
Develop and disseminate a good understanding of evidence based practice, demonstrating how this can be integrated into day to day service.
To manage, plan, co-ordinate, set standards and monitor quality of complex needs in Moray in line with local and national policy and legislation.
To manage any budget and human resources allocated to the post.

To be responsible for audits and quality assurance as well as providing quarterly reports on the findings.
Experience of working as a Social Worker or similar position.
Experience of providing staff supervision.
Extensive direct work with children and families.
Understanding and experience of the main issues surrounding complex needs.
Relevant professional social work qualification (e.g. CQSW, Dip SW, BA Hons Social Work) and registration with SSSC.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Effective communication skills (written and oral).
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective IT skills and experience of using IT packages.
Flexible approach to work.
Ability to coach and mentor staff at all levels including Social Workers, Senior Social Workers, Family Support Workers and Managers.
High level of organisational skills.
Ability to write and review policies and procedures.
Understanding of performance management and ability to implement.
An ability to critically evaluate individual and service performance.
Ability to work across professional boundaries.
In-depth knowledge of the SSSC Codes of Practice and evidence of understanding/application in relevant work setting.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
