Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full time Connexions Personal Advisor in a fixed term capacity until September 2023.
Within this exciting opportunity, you will be required to deliver impartial careers advice and guidance to students in schools regarding their post 16 options. Working with schools, you will help to negotiate a program that can support the school, depending on the number of days they have purchased.
The main part of the role with be working with Year 11 students supporting them into making decisions about their post 16 options.
As the Personal Adviser you will also be working on projects such as #kickstartmyfuture which delivers workshops to inspire students to think positively about further and higher education. As a service we also offer a drop in service for young people not in employment, education or training.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and to travel around the city.
What you’ll need to succeed
The successful applicant will need to be a confident and energetic person, able to work with young people and able to present information in assemblies or to smaller groups. You must have good knowledge of education and training providers within Essex.
Previous experience of working with young people and helping them to navigate hurdles that may prevent them from progressing to post 16 employment, education or training is beneficial.
You must have a Level 4 or 6 Careers Advice Guidance qualification or the equivalent.
