We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Community Protection Service on a permanent basis. As a Community Warden you will contribute to the effective delivery of Community Safety services to all customers by carrying out the full range of operational Community Safety activities with the aim of creating strong, safe and attractive communities.
ou will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high quality responsive customer focussed services to the public, within a challenging and varied environment. This will include the enforcement of on and off street parking restrictions, and enforcement of environmental incivilities such as dog fouling, litter, smoking and other environmental issues. You will be responsible for investigations and resolutions in terms of local antisocial behaviour issues including night noise issues, community safety issues, service requests and complaints across the area. You will also be required to work in partnership and proactively support local communities, and build relationships e.g. with the public, colleagues in other services, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, local agencies and organisations. In particular you will support and have active involvement in youth issues and diversionary activities for young people within East Dunbartonshire.
Applicants should possess excellent communication skills at all levels, an ability to work effectively on their own initiative, and also be able to support the wider performance of the Community Safety team through a culture of team work and flexibility in order to support the overall success of the Council.
You must have sound general education, including excellent numerical and literacy skills. You must also possess a full current driving licence.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
