Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
1. To work autonomously providing expert psychological advice within the Tier 3 obesity service based
on clinical evidence for clinical caseload of patients, with a range of clinical conditions and needs,
associated with the morbid obesity.
2. To develop and provide a psychological aspect of Tier 3 to the residents within the borough of
Croydon as part of the multidisciplinary Tier 3 obesity service, acting as key resource within the
team.
3. To deliver group sessions and one to one sessions for patients on the pathway both in-person and
via MS Teams or other virtual appointment solutions. Implementing a range of psychological
interventions, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory
models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses
4. To collaboratively formulate and implement plans for the psychological management of a client’s
psychological adjustment and mental health problems using a range of approaches, based on an
appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems and challenges, and employing methods
based on evidence of efficacy.
5. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to
other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
6. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and
therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes
that have shaped the individual or group.
7. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of
patients whose problems are managed by creative and flexible psychologically based care plans.
8. To provide specialist psychological advice guidance and consultation to other professionals
contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
9. To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care
to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group
10. To work with other agencies within borough of Croydon to deliver service to harder to reach groups
to help address inequalities.
11. To take the lead in providing highly specialist psychological advice to the multidisciplinary team
through attendance and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
12. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to
other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

13. To participate in health promotion activities as identified by the Operational & Clinical Lead for
Dietetics.
14. To fulfil any other duties delegated by the Operational & Clinical Lead for Dietetics
