Children & Young People Residential Support Worker – KIDWELLY – Full Time

My client is based in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire and hiring children’s residential support workers. The home is settled, and currently holds 3 children of average age 15 with emotional behaviour disorder. The service has been described as fun and active, including community days out to go bowling, play football, cooking and other leisure activities. Your role will be to support the day to day tasks of the children and young people, and engage in educational/leisure activities while simultaneously building rapport. Shifts are 2 days in, 3 days off on a rota, including sleeps.

Your new role
To provide outstanding care to young people while applying their individual care plans
Engage in fulfilling activities
Liaising with families and support workers to ensure the best possible independent care plans are provided and carried out
Proactive approach to education and activity to improve key skills and self confidence .
Ensure clear communication with individuals via a range of methods and inspire them to carry out any tasks.
Engage in individual’s transitioning periods by nurturing them to become a functioning member of wider society
To make and maintain accurate records of activities and tasks carried out, including any incidents that may occur
Carry out general housekeeping duties, which include s elements of personal care
Apply safeguarding and protection to vulnerable individuals and ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone you support
Comply with GDPR and Health and Safety regulations
What you’ll need to succeed
Driving Licence – essential
Experience within the care sector is preferred but not essential
QCF/ NVQ in Children and Young People or Health & Social Care is desirable
Resilience, self-motivation and the enthusiasm to engage with active young people
Excellent communication skills
Ability to navigate a challenging situation
DBS on the Update service is a bonus for swifter onboarding
