This organisation in Carmarthen supports and nurtures 8 – 18 year olds within a children/young person’s residential service in, who have experienced adverse childhood experiences. This means they focus on emotional behaviour disorder support, as well as some young people who may have undiagnosed autism/ADHD. They fully understand the need for early intervention within a young person’s life to ensure they have the best possible chance at an independent future and the hopes they can go back with their families. Not every day is the same, so adaptability and use of initiative is key within this type of service. The young people also appreciate consistency, so seeing the same, confident, and passionate support workers on a regular basis is a proven factor in how much they improve within themselves.

Your new role
To provide outstanding care to children while applying their individual care plans
Engage in fulfilling activities which may include going out into the community and wider areas
Liaising with families and support workers to ensure the best possible independent care plans are provided and carried out
Proactive approach to education and activity to improve key skills and self confidence.
Ensure clear communication with individuals via a range of methods and inspire them to carry out any tasks.
Engage in individual’s transitioning periods by nurturing them to become a functioning member of wider society
To make and maintain accurate records of activities and tasks carried out, including any incidents that may occur
Carry out general housekeeping duties, which includes elements of personal care
Apply safeguarding and protection to vulnerable individuals and ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone you support
Comply with GDPR and Health and Safety regulations
Shifts are 2 days in and 3 days off and booked 12 months in advance
Mixture of long days/ sleep ins and night shifts.

What you’ll need to succeed
Driving Licence – essential
Experience within the care sector is desirable
QCF/ NVQ L3 in Children and Young People or Health & Social Care is a bonus (or equivalent)
Resilience, self-motivation and the enthusiasm to engage with active young people
Excellent communication skills
Teamwork skills
Ability to navigate a challenging situation
DBS on the Update service is a bonus for swifter onboarding
