Children’s residential support worker – BARRY – Part Time Temporary

My client is a well-established children’s respite centre in Cardiff, for those aged 8-18 with complex health needs such as autism and cerebral palsy. Here children have full focus from their support workers to engage in fun and educational activities to improve mental wellbeing and nurture confidence and independence. Support workers are expected to be empathetic, motivated and enthusiastic to provide the best possible care during the service user’s stay with them, and willing to take a team leading role when required. This role is temporary with scope to go permanent for the right candidate.

Your new role
To provide outstanding care to children while applying their individual care plans
Engage in fulfilling activities
Understand and actively implement therapeutic approaches to complex behaviour
Liaising with families and support workers to ensure the best possible independent care plans are provided and carried out
Proactive approach to education and activity to improve key skills and self confidence.
Ensure clear communication with individuals via a range of methods and inspire them to carry out any tasks.
Engage in individual’s transitioning periods by nurturing them to become a functioning member of wider society
To make and maintain accurate records of activities and tasks carried out, including any incidents that may occur
Carry out general housekeeping duties, which includes elements of personal care
Apply safeguarding and protection to vulnerable individuals and ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone you support
Comply with GDPR and Health and Safety regulations
