Support Worker
Your new company
As a children’s support worker, you will have the opportunity to work for a diversity of children’s settings throughout your area in South Wales. With a strong focus on nurturing, understanding and independence, support workers will also need to be passionate about improving quality of life for children up to age 18 . Achieving this quality of life is done through carefully thought out planning, education and social activities. You will have a dedicated recruitment consultant to liaise with you on your availability and flexibility for shift cover and provide you with assignments that suit you and help you to earn that extra income.
Your new role
Cover relief shifts for permanent support workers
Understand and implement carefully thought out individual care plans
Ensure the safety and confidentiality of those you support, adhering to safeguarding regulation and GDPR
Recognising actual or potential challenging situations and navigating this through correct procedure
Building strong rapport with the children you support
Engaging in fun, active and educational activities to nurture independence and confidence
Provide a safe, welcoming and homely atmosphere
Aiding those you support with their day-to-day tasks, which may include elements of personal care
General housekeeping

Your new company
Based in the Bridgend/Porthcawl of South Wales, your new company focuses on the care and well-being of children between 8 – 18 within a residential setting. These children have come from backgrounds with adverse childhood experiences, including neglect. Your new role
To provide outstanding care to children while applying their individual care plans
Engage in fulfilling activities
Liaising with families and support workers to ensure the best possible independent care plans are provided and carried out
Proactive approach to education and activity to improve key skills and self confidence.
Ensure clear communication with individuals via a range of methods and inspire them to carry out any tasks.
Engage in individual’s transitioning periods by nurturing them to become a functioning member of wider society
To make and maintain accurate records of activities and tasks carried out, including any incidents that may occur
Carry out general housekeeping duties, which includes elements of personal care
Apply safeguarding and protection to vulnerable individuals and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone you support
Comply with GDPR and Health and Safety regulations
What you’ll need to succeed
Driving Licence – essential
Experience within the care sector is desirable but not essential
QCF/ NVQ L3 in Children and Young People or Health & Social Care is a bonus (or equivalent)
Resilience, self-motivation and the enthusiasm to engage with active young people
Excellent communication skills
Teamwork skills
Ability to navigate a challenging situation
DBS on the Update service is a bonus for swifter on-boarding
