Children’s Residential Support Worker | Temp to Perm | Twickenham, SW London

Your new company
Our client is a Children’s Service based in South West London, with a residential home based near Twickenham. The young people they look after have experienced significant trauma which requires high levels of compassion, empathy, resilience and understanding. Due to this trauma, they can present with challenging behaviour, including self harm, physical outbursts towards staff and each other and a variety of other risk-taking behaviour.

Your new role

• To provide day to day care of children and young people within a family based environment that promotes positive attachments and relationships.
• Work within the wider framework of professionals and families in order to understand a child’s life experience and respond and act in ways that promote a child’s opportunities and potential.
• To work directly with children providing the best quality of personalised care that meets their needs. Through the process of building meaningful relationships be part of a team that provides warmth, nurture and care for very vulnerable young people.
• Contribute to developing and maintaining a stimulating, nurturing home where children feel happy, cared for and safe.
• To achieve the highest standard of service delivery as measured by Ofsted against the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
• To present Achieving for Children in a positive light by behaving in a helpful and professional way at all times.

What you’ll need to succeed

• You must have minimum 6 months experience within a relevant social setting, ideally a Children’s Residential Service.
• Ideally you will hold an NVQ L3 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards it.
• Ideally you will be flexible, and willing to take on a mixture of days, nights, and some long shifts. You would also need to be able to work some weekends and bank holidays.
