Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
The post holder will be expected to build relationships with a small number of sibling groups that live separately and support them spend time together. Work closely with the social workers in the team and multi-agency partners to support children and young people in their placements through planned interventions
This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of us honouring our commitment to supporting children and families to have meaningful time together where it is not possible for children to continue living with their parents. We are passionately committed to making sure that when brothers and sisters cannot live together that they are helped to maintain a strong identity together as siblings and to spend quality time together. The post holder will be situated within our Permanence and Care Team based at Mastrick but will also work with children and families across our 4 Children in Need Teams. The role will also offer the chance to work alongside children who may still be living with their families but where the situation has been assessed as highly vulnerable. This post offers an opportunity for anyone who has the relevant qualification and is looking for an entry into Children’s Social Work. It is appropriate for suitably qualified child care practitioner or a newly qualified social worker looking for a more staged entry into statutory children’s social work. . The successful applicant will be closely mentored and supported within a culture of learning and development and professional pride and excellence.
