As part of our strengthened approach to public protection in East Ayrshire, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Child Protection Lead Officer who will have responsibility for supporting performance across multiagency child protection legislation, policies and practice.
The successful applicant will support operational practice, quality assurance and provide strategic support to the Public Protection Team and independent Chair of the Child Protection Committee.
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and plans for child protection across East Ayrshire and support the Committee to deliver on our improvement plan, reflecting national guidance. You will ensure members of the Committee are informed of national and local developments, legislation, regulations and guidance. Furthermore, the post holder will provide a range of reports including to the Child Protection Committee and Chief Officers Group and ensure statutory obligations are fulfilled.
Quality assurance and governance is an important aspect of the role and you will lead on auditing, monitoring and reporting on child protection work through the local assurance reporting framework, promoting professional standards of practice and provide feedback on quality issues.
You will participate in regional and national groups such as the Child Protection Lead Officers Group and, locally, support the sub groups of the Child Protection Committee and work positively with multi-disciplinary partners. The duties of this post requires access to the public sector network and therefore the successful applicant must complete a basic Disclosure Scotland application. Annual Salary – £41,059 – £44,899 per annum
