Catering Assistant (MRC) Part Time

Job Description

To undertake, normally under direction, the preparation, simple cooking, serving of meals and other general duties.

The Individual

General housekeeping duties (cleaning, washing up, storage)

Experience of working as part of a team

Food Hygiene qualifications or willingness to obtain this within first six months of employment

Good standard of numeracy skills (for cash handling)

Basic knowledge of safe working practices

Knowledge of Basic Food Hygiene

Ability to prepare hot and cold food and attention to detail with regard to food presentation

Ability to follow instructions i.e. from Line Manager, menus, recipes, guidelines, Code of Practice etc

Ability to develop and maintain good relationships for team working with colleagues and other Moray Council employees

Appropriate communications skills for interaction with people of different levels of understanding High standard of personal hygiene

Awareness of potential hazards in a kitchen environment

Physically fit – must be able to carry weights of between 15kg – 20kg e.g. sacks of vegetables, heavy pots.

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Starting Salary:  £23,011.04 pro rata

£11.96 per hour

27 hours per week
