Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership
Care and Support Worker
Salary: £19,424 – £21,828 (Pro-rata for part-time)
Hours: 36 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Edinburgh Community Rehabilitation and Support Service. The majority of people seeking support from the service have a neurological condition. The successful candidate will support peoples needs by using the “three conversation approach” starting with a simple conversation in which they ask the person to identify what it is that they need or would like to happen. They will get to know the person, their needs, interests, aspirations and resources. Alongside colleagues in the team they will support the person to make a plan and pull in the best person to support them with this whether that be family, friends, colleagues in the team or the wider partnership.
The successful candidate will be part of our innovative multi-disciplinary team comprising of Care and Support Workers, Senior Care and Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Work and Training Advisor, Carer Support and Physiotherapists as a core team but we work in partnership with a wide range of other professionals, statutory and third sector organisations.
We have specific technology workers in the team and a mock tech house (SMART Home) and aim to support people to be connected and independent through technology wherever possible.
The successful candidate will work in the environment that is most meaningful to the person: the person’s home, the rehabilitation base at Longstone or in a wide range of locations in the persons community.
They will be able to follow a rehabilitation plan / risk assessments as set out and to feedback progress to support the ongoing review of these. Currently, due to the pandemic, staff are predominantly working from their own home and/or community.
They will be a good listener and enjoy working with people. They will have good organisational skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. They should have good IT skills and be able to use Outlook, Word and basic excel.
It would be desirable to have experience working with adults with a physical disability.
Our service offers regular supervision and supports a wide range of training and development opportunities.
The service base is at 62 Longstone Street Edinburgh EH14 2DA.
The working hours: 8.30am – 4.20pm (Mon-Thurs) & 8.30am -2.30pm (Fri)
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
