An opportunity has arisen with Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability’s ASSIST and Domestic Abuse Service for 2 Caledonian Women’s Workers to join our team and work alongside the Council’s Community Justice Social Work service on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2024.
The posts are funded by the Scottish Government which noted in April 2023 that Ministers were presently minded to extend the funding for the roles until 31 March 2025; however, this extension is unable to be confirmed until the Scottish Government’s Criminal Justice budget for 2024/25 is confirmed.
Position Details
ASSIST (Advocacy, Support, Safety, Information Services Together) is a specialist domestic abuse advocacy and support service focussed on reducing risk to and improving the safety of victims of domestic abuse. Its aim is to ensure that all victims of domestic abuse – women, children and men – are safe, informed and supported throughout their involvement with the criminal justice system. It does that through providing a high-quality service tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
The Caledonian Women’s Worker will provide a proactive service to women who have experience domestic abuse and whose partner, or former partner, is attending the Caledonian Men’s Programme, or subject to a statutory order via the Criminal Justice system. The role involves working in partnership with women and advocating on their behalf to other services in order to increase their safety; and will contribute to the work of the Caledonian System, liaising closely with colleagues in both the men’s and children’s services to assess and manage risk and to appropriately share information relevant to this. Taking a trauma informed approach to working with victims of domestic abuse.

The work pattern for the posts is 35 hours per week to be worked Monday – Thursday, 8:45am – 4:45pm and Friday, 8:45am – 3:55pm, with a 50-minute unpaid lunch break each day. The post is office based at Eastgate, 727 London Road, Glasgow, G40 3AQ and the annual salary is on an incremental scale starting at £33,047.49 and progressing to £39,916.53.
