Bilingual Housing Support Workers – Ukrainian/Russian (2 Posts), fixed term until 01/08/2024.
As part of West Dunbartonshire Council’s ongoing commitment to assist in the successful resettlement of refugees, we are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join a client focused housing team delivering positive impacts across our communities.
We are looking to appoint two individuals with excellent communication skills in both Ukrainian/Russian and English to work with Ukrainian/Russian speaking displaced persons and assist in the resettlement process in West Dunbartonshire, working to ensure that individuals are settled positively and successfully.
The successful candidate will provide a wide range of advice and assistance to ensure that Ukrainian/Russian speaking tenants or Ukrainians living with hosts, understand their rights and responsibilities, can access statutory services including housing, health, education and employment and that their social and domestic needs are responded to appropriately. This will involve the post-holders providing accurate interpretation and translation services.
The post holders will work with hosts as well as with a range of local stakeholders and in partnership with statutory and voluntary sector agencies and will be expected to operate a flexible working pattern to meet the needs of the families with whom they work, this will include some out of hours support. We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude and a strong client led service delivery focus who will be able to assess, support and enable refugees to settle and integrate into their local communities and successfully sustain their tenancy or hosting agreement.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
